Colt Python 357 Magnum 3in Barrel 6 Rounds Polished Blued

Let me start by saying why I deducted 1 star. The gun out of the box had an issue where the trigger would not reset properly. Colt customer service had me mail it off using FedEx (had to go to an Office Depot). It took about 35 days, and when it returned, the gunsmith wrote a note about the work he did, i.e., the trigger and the transfer bar. I now have the gun back, and it is absolutely perfect.
First off, this gun is now an heirloom. This is an investment as much as a defensive weapon. This is an art piece as much as anything else. It's trigger is butter. Butter! While the blued finish is a finger print magnet, it is simply stunning. It reminds me of the cop movies I grew up watching in the 70's and 80's; they didn't use polished stainless steel guns.
The feel in my hand is wonderful, like I'm shaking the hand of an old friend. Everything about it is ergonomic in the extreme. Now let me say, I also own the new generation 4.25" barrel Colt Anaconda in polished stainless steel. I literally own the two guns of which many would consider themselves LUCKY to own just one. Yes, it was pricey. But what you get? You get perfection.
Shooting the .357 is very manageable, especially if you are using it for its intended use: short range defense, critters within 7-20 yards. I own the S&W 642 Airweight, which is a smaller barrel, and shooting .38 spcl out of that is similar to shooting .357 out of the Python. I could shoot the gun all day long.
The weight, feel, and balance of the Python are perfect. And mind you, I have arthritic fingers.
I would only make one suggestion. A lot of folk complain that the rear sights are beneath Colt. Buy the .050 Hex driver and take out the locking screw and add blue locktite. Simple fix.
Folks, get this gun. There is a 2.5" barrel version, but the FPS drop-off is too much, though it is obviously more concealable. At that point, I'd just stick with the 642. I hold both of my Colt guns every day, because to me they are more special than all the other guns I own, and I own a lot. Each gun holds a special place, like my S&W CS45, but these two Colt revolvers satisfy a visceral desire, a desire to hold a tried and true ingenuity that made this country great.
Lastly, I am aware that CZ bought Colt, and that may or may NOT be a reason why their customer service can be frustrating to tackle, but they have it where it counts, hence my 35 day turn around.
